Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the major treatments in China for chronic conditions and the prescriptions have been used for 2500 years.
Only natural products are used, including dry herbs to be taken as tea, herbs in tablet form, tincture and lotions. The preparations have been improved, checked and stood the test of time.
It is important to remember that it is effective and safe only when properly dispensed from a qualified doctor practising Chinese medicine. A diagnosis is initially established during a consultation after which an individualised herbal tea mixture is prescribed which contains a range of herbal ingredients. Each herb in the mixture possesses different qualities and has different effects when combined. As with acupuncture the treatment is free from major side effects.
Chinese herbal medicine aims to treat the whole body rather than just the symptoms and to improve the patient’s general condition, to strengthen the patient’s own immune system and to correct the body’s imbalances.
